About Us. For over a century Holley has driven the cutting edge of fuel-system design. Intended for performance hot street/strip and performance marine applications, these profiles have a moderate lope at idle and offer an extended rpm range with emphasis on upper bottom to top end power and a strong mid-range.
This helps to prevent a loss of effective pressure during wide open throttle, and also helps to prevent injectors from having to run extremely low pulse widths to fuel at idle. A downfall of return systems is the fact that they circulate fuel through a very hot engine bay, ultimately carrying that heat back into your fuel tank.

But after about one minute the idle starts to accelerate then go down. it will go up and down in idle for a few minutes only until warm. kinda like a pulsating or just an up and down idle for a few minutes only until warm. it almost feels like when it goes down its kinda choking or getting ready to turn off but at that instant the idle picks back up. after the car is warm nothing happens.

It has an airflow meter in the top of the box, if that's not connected it won't idle after it warms up. You may also want to check the air intake tube from the air cleaner box to the throttle body. Make sure all the hose clamps are tight.

3.0 V6 Has a rough idle and bucks/studders under load and acceleration. I have replaced the fuel pump, spark plugs, cold start injector, EFI Temp sensor, Distributer, CAP & Rotor and no luck. It will start fine when cold, but has a hard start when warm.

When the water pump shaft is spinning at low and idle speeds, the clutch will spin the fan at about a 1:1 ratio. During high speed rotation the silicone fluid within the fan clutch reduces its ability to spin the fan at full speed and the energy transferred from the water pump shaft, through the clutch to the fan is reduced.

It is because rough idle when warm can either be caused by one faulty component or through series of problems. However, it is easy to recognize the problem, as during rough idling either the engine would run at an irregular rate or it may have varying RPMs without your foot on the gas pedal.

My 22re is suffering from an intermittent idle issue. It will idle fine sometimes, then drop really low for no particular reason at random. I can't make it happen-it has a mind of it's own. I haven't noticed it much when the motor is cold. Browsing the FSM, the water temperature circuit comes up as the first culprit to check. The ignition coil turns the 12 volts from the battery into the high voltage needed to fire the spark plugs. But where ordinary coils develop about 15,000-40,000 volts, our performance coils can produce 50,000 volts or more, with faster rise time and increased duration, for a strong spark even at high RPMs. This also causes poor engine vacuum and a rough idle. Shorter-lift camshafts in the 250°-260° duration create high engine vacuum, a smoother idle and lots of bottom-end torque in the 2000-4500 RPM range where most Toyota owners operate their truck's engines.
